Purple Rain

Purple Rain is a new release from Sacred Origin, named for its striking, raindrop-shaped purple figs that hang gracefully from the branches like frozen drops of purple rain. The fruit begins green with distinctive red striping before ripening to a rich, deep purple, creating an unforgettable display.

The original mother tree grows alongside Sacred Origin's Amrita, making this an especially intriguing selection. Purple Rain is still under evaluation, but its unique appearance and apparent rarity already make it a standout. Purple Capri male figs are uncommon, and I look forward to learning more about its characteristics over the coming seasons.

In Northern California, the profichi crop typically ripens around June 15. These pollen-rich figs produce the next generation of fig wasps, which then go on to pollinate female fig varieties, making Purple Rain a valuable addition for collectors and growers working with Smyrna and San Pedro figs.
