An exciting new release that has been under evaluation for the past couple of years. Last season, we finally harvested enough fruit to complete a full evaluation, and it exceeded our expectations.

Shasta Cherry has performed exceptionally well across multiple trial locations. It produced high-quality fruit in Tennessee and Oregon, where there are no fig wasps, and also proved itself in the heat of Texas. This consistency makes it a promising variety for growers in a wide range of climates.

The fruit is impressively large with an attractive green exterior that opens to reveal a stunning, deep cherry-red interior. The flavor is truly outstanding—rich, sweet, and complex with pronounced cherry and mixed berry notes balanced by a pleasant hint of tartness. Subtle floral undertones add even more depth, creating a decadent eating experience that lingers on the palate.

This variety has quickly earned a place among my personal favorites and is one I highly recommend to anyone looking to expand their collection with something truly special. It combines excellent size, beautiful internal color, reliable performance, and an unforgettable flavor profile.

Please note that the photos don't fully capture this variety's potential. We had some unexpected challenges with deer, which seemed especially attracted to these figs, and the fruit shown was harvested before reaching peak ripeness. Fully ripened Shasta Cherry figs develop even richer color, sweetness, and flavor than the photos suggest.
