Royal Ruby is a striking new fig selection from Sacred Origin, discovered as a chance seedling in Tehama County, California. Named for its deep jewel-toned beauty and refined dessert-quality flavor, this variety produces medium to large figs with a rich ruby to crimson interior and smooth skin that ripens to deep burgundy with subtle purple undertones.

The flavor is intensely sweet and layered—notes of berry jam, honeyed wine, and soft tropical fruit—finishing with a lingering, luxurious richness. The texture is creamy and melting with minimal seed crunch, making it an exceptional fresh-eating fig.

At this time, it is still unknown whether Royal Ruby is common fig (self-fertile) or requires pollination by the fig wasp (caprification), as it is a newly discovered seedling currently under observation. Further fruiting cycles will help determine its breeding type and consistency.

Fruit holds well on the tree at peak ripeness, developing deeper complexity the longer it hangs.
